About Alumni Study Abroad
Alumni Study Abroad is built by educators and hospitality professionals with decades of experience running study abroad, cultural programs, and award-winning accommodation in Italy. We have offices in Florence (where we’re based), Rome, and Bologna.
Our programs combine:
The intellectual stimulation of a university program
The comfort and privacy of an apartment stay
The flexibility adults need—especially if you’re balancing work, family, and travel
We’ve worked with American alumni, students, and universities for decades. Alumni Study Abroad is our way of offering that same depth of experience to adults who are ready for their own Italian experiences.
FAQs
Q: Who typically joins an Alumni program?
A: Most participants are in their 40s–70s, traveling solo or as a couple. They’re curious, open-minded, and interested in learning and experiencing, rather than just sightseeing.
Q: Do I need to speak Italian?
A: No. We start from the basics and focus on what you’ll actually use—ordering, getting around, and social interactions. All seminars are in English.
Q: Is this suitable if I’m working remotely?
A: Yes, especially the 4- and 8-week “Live Like a Native” options. We’ll create a schedule that balance work hours with classes and activities.
Q: What’s included in the price?
A: Housing, classes and workshops, orientations, some group meals and tastings, and on-the-ground support. Flights, most meals, and personal expenses are not included. We’ll send you additional information on what’s included and actual timetables after you register your interest.
Q: How big are the groups?
A: We keep groups intentionally small to preserve a seminar feel and a sense of community—typically in the 6-12 participants range.
Q: Do groups sell out?
A: Yes. To keep everything manageable at the highest level, we’ve purposefully limited participation, which means that we usually get more inquiries than we can accommodate. Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Q: How do I reserve a place?
A: Submit an interest form, and we’ll follow up with additional information, answer any questions you may have, and walk you through enrollment and payment schedule. If you’re sure, you can reserve your space by making a non-refundable $500 deposit.
